The Senior Developer / DBA is a hybrid, intermediate-level position responsible for the establishment & maintenance of Database Administration across multiple database environments as part of the Reporting & Analytics team.

The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities. Candidate is expected to perform DBA-related activities and contribute to reporting automation.

Responsibilities :

Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas

Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users

Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems / issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement

Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality

Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes

Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Perform MS SQL and Postgres Database Administration across multiple database environments and ensure continuous 24 7 operation and availability in support of mission critical internal production applications.

Troubleshoot, investigate and drive resolution of incidents within our MS SQL environments and collaborate with application / development partners to address performance reported issues.

Contribute / write / maintain OS level scripts for system DB maintenance. Ensure the quality and consistency of data and database systems by following a defined set of procedures (change control, security procedures, user passwords, backups, etc).

Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

Hands-on knowledge required in MS SQL Server database creation, backup and recovery.

Hands-on knowledge required in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server such as Always On availability groups, Database Mirroring, Windows Server Failover Clustering etc.

Hands-on knowledge required in MS SQL Server database upgrades, Production to Test database refreshes (cloning) etc.

Hands-on knowledge required in writing SQL statements (Structured Query Language).

Participate in new system builds; create databases, schemas and deploy standard jobs and monitoring, and user permissions and login administration.

Provide support outside of normal office hours when necessary and appropriate to support major database implementations or to react to highly critical database production issues.

Qualifications :

5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a software development and MS SQL Server and / or Postgres environment

Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications

Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

Working knowledge of consulting / project management techniques / methods

Experience leading MS SQL Server and / or Postgres Installation, Configuration and Upgrade efforts

Performance monitoring and tuning skills are required

Experience leading problem solving and analytical efforts in high pressure situations

Extensive backup / recovery experience including Disaster Recovery planning

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changes in database technology

Education :

Bachelor’s degree / University degree or equivalent experience

Ideal Candidate :

This is a hybrid role as it involves DBA maintenance and reports development. It will suit someone who is experienced in both disciplines and wants to do a bit of both.
