Acden Holdings is currently accepting applications for one (1) Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor to support its corporate HSEQ department.

The position will be based out of the Acden Taiganova Head Office in Fort McMurray, Alberta; however it is expected the position will require working in multiple worksites and remotely as required.

The position will consist of Monday to Friday - 8-hour day shifts with early mornings, evenings, and weekends when required.

This role will participate in an on-call weekend rotation.

The HSEQ Advisor reports directly to the HSEQ Supervisor.

In this role you will be accountable to detect and correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions and ensure compliance. You will also dynamically deliver in house end user training to new and existing Acden employees.

Overview of Role :

  • Conduct monthly work area hazard inspections.
  • Investigate and resolve health, safety related complaints.
  • Investigate situations where a worker has refused to work based on safety conditions.
  • Encourage management and employees to participate in safety programs.
  • Manage actions that require completion from LCR’s & SCR’s and keep track via Action Log.
  • Conduct Internal COR Audits and deliver internal training along with End User Training.
  • Assist Supervision and / or Management with the implementation of required action items.
  • Assist with investigation process and preparation of incident reports / summaries.
  • Attend all applicable client safety meetings, as determined necessary.
  • Research, prepare, and deliver weekly safety meetings; assist businesses with preparation of morning toolbox meeting content.
  • Ensure all needed local statistics and documents are prepared and forwarded to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and review of Job Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices, and Safe Job Procedures.
  • Promptly respond to any urgent situations, which require HSEQ team attention.
  • Assist, mentor, and cooperate with other members of the HSEQ team.
  • Facilitate and deliver in-house and third-party training sessions.
  • Develop training packages as requested.
  • Track and trend incident data and Root Cause Analysis and maintain management summary.
  • Review Internal KPI’s and Provide Monthly Reports.
  • HSEQ Program Revisions (Standards, Codes of Practice, HSE Manual etc.)
  • Take turns on Safety Hotline rotation and perform other duties as requested.
  • Perform various other tasks as required to fully support Acden.
  • As the ideal candidate, you will possess at minimum your Occupation Health and Safety Certificate , and a designation in an HSE related field ( NCSO, CRSP ).

    You will have 3-5 years minimum of full-time dedicated HSE field experience, and your Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor Certification or Auditor status in good standing.

    Previous experience working in an industrial trade or industrial role is an asset. Candidates with certifications in end-user training courses may be given preference (i.

    e. forklift, overhead crane, fall protection, etc.). Computer literacy is a must, including strong skills with Microsoft Office Word and Excel, information management systems, and a minimum of 50 WPM typing speed.

    As the successful candidate, you will have excellent prioritizing skills and ability to balance multiple demands, excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation and active listening skills.

    As the HSEQ Advisor, you will have a high degree of accuracy, strong grammar / spelling, efficiency minded yet quality oriented and a working knowledge of Alberta OH&S Act Regulation and Code, Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Motor Carrier Safety Standards, Motor Vehicle Transport Act and National Safety Code.
