Co-op, Geospatial / Geophysics Support (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada)

This is a 16-month Co-op that begins in May 2022. Application Deadline : October 18, 2021

What you will do :

The following is a sample of common job duties, however, more detailed information will be provided during the recruitment process :

  • Gain experience in collecting and analyzing geospatial data in-mine and on surface or in both microseismic monitoring and in-mine geophysical techniques
  • Contribute to the GeoServices & Land team in providing quality geospatial or geophysical support to potash mining operations
  • Assist with various duties, including :
  • Collection of terrestrial LiDAR, RPAS photogrammetry, and GNSS survey data
  • Data analysis and quality control
  • Care and maintenance of sensitive equipment
  • Working with GIS datasets
  • Geophysical data acquisition : mainly Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), but may also include electromagnetic survey support and seismic reflection / refraction acquisition
  • Installation and management of geophysical sensors
  • Travel will be required
  • Work both in underground mines and in operating industrial facilities
  • Some longer than normal workdays may be required
  • What you will bring :

  • Must be currently enrolled and completed at least 3 years of an undergraduate Geophysics, Geology, Mine Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geomatics Engineering (or equivalent) program at an accredited post-secondary institution AND returning to full-time studies after the work term.
  • Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training
  • Excellent interpersonal teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and nurture projects forward
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing and complex priorities
  • Alignment with Nutrien’s purpose and values
  • Preference will be given to candidates with mining or heavy industrial experience and / or with data analytics experience.
