Overview

The Operations Intern - Aggregates Manufacturing will provide operational performance tracking support for the Western Canada Aggregate performance team.

This is a developmental role with an opportunity to gain widespread expertise within our business with the ultimate goal of building a long-term career with Lafarge.

This role is potentially a fast track to interdisciplinary management experience; people management, finance, and budgeting.

Responsibilities

As an Operations Intern - Aggregates Manufacturing, you will provide t echnical support for all areas of the business including :

  • Operations performance measurement
  • Implement and manage new reporting platforms
  • Develop and improve data capture systems and user engagement through site visits and understanding of site specific challenges and opportunities
  • Produce reports for key performance metrics across Western Canada
  • Examples of responsibilities may include :

  • Be present in the operations to understand the business. Learning daily operations through site visits and job shadowing
  • This position will blend working with operational data and in the field learning opportunities.
  • Launchpad to develop into an operational leadership role throughout Western Canada
  • Support the WCAN Performance team as they drive business improvements through the use of manufacturing performance metrics
  • Assisting to develop strategies and objectives for improving performance measurement and reporting across 5 Market areas in Western Canada
  • Working on reporting at a country level that is used as part of global reviews
  • Mobile fleet tracking and reporting for over 200 pieces of equipment
  • Performance tracking and reporting for over 25 Aggregate production sites across Western Canada
  • Present training or seminars to individuals or groups on the performance advantages of current and new systems and processes
  • Systems will be interacting with : SAP, Trimble Insight, FileMaker App, Agg Flow, and various OEM software such as Komtrax, Visionlink, Unified Fleet, and others.
  • Education :

  • Recent graduate from either a University or Technical College with a focus in Operations & Logistics Management, or Diploma in Business Operations Management.
  • Interest in a long-term career in mining or construction
  • Experience & Skill Set :

  • Knowledge and experience would be considered an asset within :
  • Mining engineering industryWorking with systems data collection and reporting or analyticsOn-site construction experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to make rational decisions and resolve conflict
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer technical aptitude to learn new systems and programs
  • Self-starter / Problem solver / Self-disciplined
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
