What you’ll do

Develop highly-detailed, customizable, and efficient discrete event simulation models using FlexSim

Be the subject matter expert on discrete event simulation at our two Toronto area distribution centres

Engage multiple stakeholder groups to run scenarios, improve, and extend our existing simulation model of the receiving area and automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS).

Grow simulation at Canadian Tire leading and establishing the direction of future simulation projects

Analyze available data to establish inputs that support model requirements using statistical analysis where necessary

Design the database structure that feeds into simulation models

Prepare, validate, and present model output from scenario runs and recommend future process improvement projects based on the results

What you bring

Experience leading at least 2 major discrete event simulation projects in industry

At least 1 year of experience with an object-oriented programming language (C++, Java, Python, etc.)

Familiar with the fundamental concepts of simulation (i.e. how simulation works, how to do verification / validation, how to fit distributions, how to determine a warmup period)

MSc, MASc, or MEng in Industrial Engineering or Operations Research

2+ years work experience building discrete event simulation models

Some experience using FlexSim

Some experience designing databases using Access and SQL

Strong communication skills and initiative

Intermediate knowledge of standard desktop tools (MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders of varied levels

Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities
