    Reporting to : Operations Manager

    Division : Emergency Management & Environmental Response Services

    POSITION SUMMARY :

    An ER Team Lead within the Emergency Response division is responsible for the following duties :

  • Coordinates and implements all aspects of Health and Safety during emergency and non-emergency projects
  • Coordinates all aspects of the emergency response operations including response, administration, support as well as site property management in the field
  • Acts as field leadership representing QM in a competent and professional manner at all times
  • Facilitates and ensures that the best course of action is executed while respecting the life, environment, and property and the best interest of QM clientele
  • Supports competent leadership at each level of the Emergency Response operations to all other response staff both part-time and full-time
  • Required to participate in an on-call schedule to cover 24 / 7 / 365
  • RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead the Emergency Response Team on emergency and non-emergency projects. Ensure efficient and timely responses 24 hours a day in a professional and safe manner representing and reflecting the company.
  • Utilize and oversee all Health and Safety initiatives on all emergency and non-emergency projects
  • Provide the maximum protection and education to our workers in the field
  • Deliver toolbox / safety meetings regularly to all field staff prior to commencing operations
  • Ensure HSE compliance with applicable Federal, Provincial Acts, Codes and Regulations
  • Pro-actively identify, develop and implement modern HSE program protocols, Safe Work Procedures and response tactics.
  • Oversee the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety related documentation as required regionally and specific to various business lines
  • Assist in developing and delivering required training programs to our clients and within QM LP
  • Complete all paperwork and reports required for operational tasks
  • Perform equipment checks, testing and maintenance on a scheduled basis
  • Perform maintenance for all QM LP vehicles and mechanical equipment as requested
  • To provide and / or oversee the basic housekeeping of our buildings and our work areas
  • Attend scheduled training and lead training as assignment by QM management
  • Complete required documentation in the management of waste and transportation of waste as per the Provincial and Federal regulations
  • Responsibilities as otherwise assigned by Operational / Regional Management
  • QUALIFICATIONS : Education :

    Education :

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • College or University Diploma or Degree an asset
  • Occupational Certification :

  • NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician Level or greater
  • NFPA 472 Tank car / Tank truck Specialist
  • Confined Space Entry / Rescue certification
  • Valid driver’s license - Restricted AZ class license is preferred
  • Rope Rescue Technician Level is an asset
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is an asset
  • Experience :

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a full time or part-time leader
  • Hazardous Materials Response experience (3 years or greater)
  • Previous experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management, etc.
  • Previous experience with the assessment of industrial services and a keen understanding of working at heights, confined space, rescue etc.
  • Comprehensive heavy construction experience and Industrial experience an asset
  • Rope Rescue Technician experience (3 years or greater) preferred
  • Knowledge :

  • Must be an adept communicator, willing to share experience and knowledge, capable of mentoring and leading junior team members using a collaborative and flexible approach
  • Excellent understanding of Federal and Provincial regulations and other regulatory authorities with respect to operations
  • Excellent understanding of emergency response tactics and applications with the ability to identify the proper approach to any Emergency Project with complex and diverse variables.
  • Abilities :

  • Excellent team player, cooperative approach at all levels, strong relationship building capabilities and ability to treat peers at all levels with respect
  • Adept at strategic thinking look for solutions outside the box, strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and communication skills, fluency in English a must, other language abilities desirable
