Division : Emergency Management & Environmental Response Services
POSITION SUMMARY :
An ER Team Lead within the Emergency Response division is responsible for the following duties :
Coordinates and implements all aspects of Health and Safety during emergency and non-emergency projects
Coordinates all aspects of the emergency response operations including response, administration, support as well as site property management in the field
Acts as field leadership representing QM in a competent and professional manner at all times
Facilitates and ensures that the best course of action is executed while respecting the life, environment, and property and the best interest of QM clientele
Supports competent leadership at each level of the Emergency Response operations to all other response staff both part-time and full-time
Required to participate in an on-call schedule to cover 24 / 7 / 365
Lead the Emergency Response Team on emergency and non-emergency projects. Ensure efficient and timely responses 24 hours a day in a professional and safe manner representing and reflecting the company.
Utilize and oversee all Health and Safety initiatives on all emergency and non-emergency projects
Provide the maximum protection and education to our workers in the field
Deliver toolbox / safety meetings regularly to all field staff prior to commencing operations
Ensure HSE compliance with applicable Federal, Provincial Acts, Codes and Regulations
Pro-actively identify, develop and implement modern HSE program protocols, Safe Work Procedures and response tactics.
Oversee the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety related documentation as required regionally and specific to various business lines
Assist in developing and delivering required training programs to our clients and within QM LP
Complete all paperwork and reports required for operational tasks
Perform equipment checks, testing and maintenance on a scheduled basis
Perform maintenance for all QM LP vehicles and mechanical equipment as requested
To provide and / or oversee the basic housekeeping of our buildings and our work areas
Attend scheduled training and lead training as assignment by QM management
Complete required documentation in the management of waste and transportation of waste as per the Provincial and Federal regulations
Responsibilities as otherwise assigned by Operational / Regional Management
QUALIFICATIONS : Education :
Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
College or University Diploma or Degree an asset
Occupational Certification :
NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician Level or greater
NFPA 472 Tank car / Tank truck Specialist
Confined Space Entry / Rescue certification
Valid driver’s license - Restricted AZ class license is preferred
Rope Rescue Technician Level is an asset
Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is an asset
A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a full time or part-time leader
Hazardous Materials Response experience (3 years or greater)
Previous experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management, etc.
Previous experience with the assessment of industrial services and a keen understanding of working at heights, confined space, rescue etc.
Comprehensive heavy construction experience and Industrial experience an asset
Rope Rescue Technician experience (3 years or greater) preferred
Must be an adept communicator, willing to share experience and knowledge, capable of mentoring and leading junior team members using a collaborative and flexible approach
Excellent understanding of Federal and Provincial regulations and other regulatory authorities with respect to operations
Excellent understanding of emergency response tactics and applications with the ability to identify the proper approach to any Emergency Project with complex and diverse variables.
Excellent team player, cooperative approach at all levels, strong relationship building capabilities and ability to treat peers at all levels with respect
Adept at strategic thinking look for solutions outside the box, strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong written and communication skills, fluency in English a must, other language abilities desirable
Excellent team building, interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to work under stressful conditions
