The Sr. Delivering Work Within Possessions (DWWP) Planning & Risk Manager performs a variety of technical engineering and construction integrated planning analysis during the planning and delivery phases of the project.

The position requires experience in construction planning, primavera planning and being able to understand what is required to integrate and deliver projects through design, construction and commissioning in an operational railway and the risk involved in doing so.

The Sr. DWWP Planning & Risk Manager is responsible for providing the necessary construction and operational planning expertise and risk identification required for planning the integration of all work, providing relevant construction planning expertise to the project team and contractors as required, and coordination across the various teams for the Head of Program Integration.

  • To be the single point of contact within our client for the management and control of all DWWP standards and requirements.
  • Review of the Integrated Work, Resource and Access Plan for all contracted work, to ensure the critical work is delivered as planned within a possession without the work overrunning into the operational railway.
  • To formally risk assess all critical or potential risk of overrun work with projects and contractors to identify all potential risks associated with the delivery of this work and mitigations planned to mitigate.
  • To conduct Quantitative Schedule Risk Assessments (QSRA’s) on all high-risk work using Monte Carlo simulations or equivalent.
  • To work with projects and contractors to change and modify their plans to reduce risk and develop deliverable plans.
  • To communicate the results of risk reviews of these Integrated Plan(s) to all identified parties in our client, in order to determine if the work should be carried out as planned.
  • To manage the T- DWWP review process and arrange for the mandated reviews to be held with the required parties.
  • Review of Project deliverables including design reports, drawings, construction strategies, execution plans, etc., as required, as well as understanding the status of deliverables provided by PPP and other contractors.
  • Working with construction planners at contractor’s offices to aid in the development of deliverable packages of work, recognizing resourcing and access requirements and availability.
  • Monitoring the progress of design development, construction, commissioning to be aware of emerging issues and identify risks including quantification and possible strategies for mitigation.
  • Keep senior management and others routinely informed of project status and all developments that impact schedule, safety and reputation through regular reports.
  • The Sr. DWWP Planning & Risk Manager is the person in the Integrated Work, Resource and Access Planning team responsible for the analysis of the Integrated Work, Resource and Access Plans and ensuing that the DWWP process is followed.

    This person must work closely with the Head of Program Integration, the Sr. Construction Manager, and other staff in the development of the agreed deliverable Integrated plan that meets our clients and DWWP requirements.

    The Sr. DWWP Planning & Risk Manager must fully understand the DWWP process and the work and resourcing and access requirements necessary for the successful and efficient delivery and commissioning of infrastructure in an operational railway and options for, to minimize disruption to the operational railway.

    This person must work with all departments and functions within our client, as well as design and construction contractors, review and assess the plans for the construction, staging and commissioning plan necessary for the efficient and successful delivery of all work.

    Qualifications

  • BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline or similar applicable technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Degree or Certificate in Risk Management or equivalent
  • Qualified P6 planner or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of relevant construction planning and risk management for work on an operational railway.
  • Experience in formally assessing risk on a P6 plan using Monte Carlo or equivalent
  • Experience in risk identification, allocation, and quantification particularly for projects with operations and maintenance
  • Direct experience in construction planning, risk management and / or working with contractor’s planners and supervisors delivering work on an operational railway.
  • Actual DWWP experience for delivering work in an operational railway would be ideal but not essential
