The IQC Quality Technician is responsible for sampling and inspection of the components, parts and sub-assemblies from suppliers to determine its compliance to Photon Control and customer specifications / requirements.
The QAT works in close cooperation with the multi-disciplinary team integrated by manufacturing, purchasing and engineering to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction, product & service quality and process performance and to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risk.
Operate CMM equipment and perform part measurements and layouts for in process inspections, first off article, tool changes, etc.
Utilize Laser Scan technology to perform scanning for IQC inspection, FAI, Machine shop support, NCR resolution, and dimensional layout and approval of mechanical components.
Dimensional evaluation of parts utilizing a wide array of standard measuring equipment
Develop part measurement CMM programs using existing programming environments
Assist new programs during the prototype and pre-launch stage with part programming and / or dimensional layouts
Assist the gauge maintenance program for the periodic verification / calibration of gauges and fixtures
Assist in data collection for SPC.
Reports defects to the Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance Manager.
Contribute to the elaboration of methods for inspection, testing and sampling
Assists in the Failure Analysis of customer returns / issues.
Maintains, evaluates and acts on quality metrics.
Investigates product quality problems and recommends changes or improvements.
Drive immediate containment actions to avoid further impact to manufacturing process.
Collaborate in the root cause analysis of all non-conformances
Collect information for the cost of quality, supplier performance and components / part quality and propose opportunities for improvement or risk when possible.
Participate in the material review board to identify the actions to correct process issues and improve product quality
Create and follow up the supplier corrective actions
Promote the compliance to copy exact and quality manual throughout the supplier base
Create and deliver the component FAIR and dimensional reports and ensure is approved before components are released for production.
Conduct an effective and efficient incoming inspection to evaluation the components, sub-assemblies or finish goods compliance to the specifications and requirements.
Identify the necessary gages, inspection equipment, jigs or fixture required to properly evaluate the components / sub-assemblies and to improve inspection standard times.
Provide feedback to the engineering team to optimize the component / sub-assembly drawings
Performs other duties as required
Minimum a 3 years’ experience working as : Incoming quality or final quality in the manufacturing environmentPreferably under the copy exact requirementsOperating CMM equipment using PC-DMIS and / or Zeiss Calypso.
Programming knowledge of CMM equipment using PC-DMIS and / or Zeiss Calypso is preferred.
Proficiency using standard measuring equipment is required.
Advance GD&T knowledge, blueprint reading and interpretation of technical specifications.
Good understanding of SPC and Gauge R&R
A degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred will be an asset.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma practices and methodologies, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and the proper implementation of industry practices in the manufacturing process
Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions
Knowledge in auditing program and techniques to surveillance product, process and special processes.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fiber optics, surface finishing, optical parts, machining, plating, injection molding, PCBA, electronic / semiconductor fabrication, etc.
Knowledge of statistical analysis included SPC.
Knowledge to read technical drawings / blueprints, specifications, bill of materials and CAD files.
Proficient in MS Office software products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
Experience using MRP processes
Experience leading a team in multiple projects.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Demonstrate a good decision-making skill
