We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our matting team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Matting, this position is responsible for operating Heavy Equipment, including but not limited to : wheel loaders, excavators, reclaimers, spreaders, and packers.

Responsibilities include the loading and unloading of trucks, laying matting, soil stabilization of locations, minor maintenance, supporting control with inventory documentation.

Based out of our Grand Prairie work shop, this position will work a rotation of shifts with hours of work and shift schedule subject to business requirements.

This is a safety sensitive position, compliance to our drug and alcohol policy is required.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operate loader and / or excavator to unload trucks and lay matting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Facilitate daily safety meetings and complete related paperwork.
  • Work as a team coordinating with the Supervisors’ on the delivery of matting and other equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety procedures of work place, report all safety concerns and take corrective action for a safety hazard identified that could impact themselves or others.
  • Qualifications and Experience :

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
  • All related safety tickets;
  • Able to run heavy equipment safely and efficiently
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience running a loader or excavator; and
  • Minimum of 2 years’ matting experience.
  • Required Skills and Abilities :

  • Operate all tools and equipment required to perform tasks specific to trade.
  • Demonstrate organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage a fluctuating workload to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to health / safety of self and co-workers.
