We are looking for a HR Consultant with a solid progressive track record ideally with a minimum of 5 years end-to-end HR Generalist experience.
The Consultant is a critical member of the Business Advisory team, who provides Vancity employees and managers with consistent, accurate and timely generalist advice that enables effective decision-
making in line with Vancity’s employee experience.
The HR Consultant reports directly into the Director, HR Advisory Services along with other peer HR Consultants supporting designated lines of business.
In this role, you will :
Provide advice and coaching to managers and / or employees regarding HR services and programs (e.g. labour relations, performance improvement / corrective discipline, return to work, workplace accommodations, recruitment consultancy support, absenteeism management, and terminations.)
Respond to grievances at Step 2 and Step 3 levels, prepare files for arbitration and draft disciplinary letters.
Conduct investigations and support ongoing labour management committee meetings.
Cross collaborate within our HR department and teams to provide advice and recommendations that inform the development of new tools, while you provide coaching and training in order to build managerial capability and knowledge regarding HR services and programs.

You have :
A bachelor degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related discipline and / or a law degree.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources. Experience with labour and employee relations issues.
Demonstrated experience providing direction to Legal Counsel in arbitration, human rights and other employment related matters.
Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations, interpreting and applying collective agreements, responding to workplace grievances, policy and legislation, drafting reports, writing correspondences, public speaking and training.
Excellent communication and consulting skills. You are a problem solver and influencer who gets great satisfaction in being a true consultant.
Bonus points, if you have :
A CPHR certification.
Experience working both within a unionized and non-unionized work environment with exposure to arbitration and grievance processes.
