Our Ontario team is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager / Electrical Engineer to join our Power and Dams group preferably located in Waterloo or the GTA, in Ontario.
The Electrical Power team works closely with other disciplines including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, and Environmental, on projects across many industries.
Some of the sectors we regularly work in include : Solar, Wind, Distribution, Transmission, Microgrids, Distributed Generation, hydropower, and heavy industrial.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project / Practice Management :
Supports development of proposals
Creates and executes project execution plans, including work plans (work breakdown structure), resource plans, risk management plans, etc.
Initiates and participated in risk review process as required.
Manage EPC projects in the energy transition sector.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
Assumes responsibilities (in partnership with the assigned principal) for technical and design excellence
Ensures project documents, including contracts and additional service requests are approved, and filed in accordance with Stantec processes and procedures.
Project Accounting :
Updates project financials on a regular basis (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) using Stantec’s proprietary tools and industry project management processes
Manages project budget and schedule including tracking, forecasting and reporting of team hours and expenses
Monitor project performance indicators (KPIs)
Ensures timely and accurate invoicing and monitors receivables and collection of invoices
Facilitates and holds regular team and client meetings
Keeps project team well informed of changes and updates
Report project status to the client and internal leadership on a regular basis
Timely development and dissemination of accurate meeting minutes
Resolves and / or escalates issues in a timely fashion
Understands how to communicate difficult / sensitive information
Inspires project team members
Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
Remains engaged and knowledgeable regarding emerging industry practices
Complies with and helps to enforce Stantec policies and procedures
Actively supports Stantec’s Safer Together and Safety programs and is required to complete all Health and Safety documentation
Effectively utilizes each team members to his / her fullest potential

Client Management :
Manages day-to-day client interaction, evaluates and manages client expectations

Builds a knowledge base of each client’s business, organization, and objectives
Business Development :
Identifies business development and additional service opportunities for all Stantec disciplines as they relate to at specific project, program, or client
Engages in proposal efforts, including completing project scoping, scheduling and pricing
Understand project business structure and risks
Electrical Engineering :
Able to create preliminary SLD, Load / Power Flow Model
Knowledgeable in using and applying technical standards involving ESA, CSA, and OBC
Able to assist in capital cost estimating
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Good writing and communication skills in English
Valid Canadian driver’s license
Willingness to travel within North America for project related work
Experience with MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, ETAP, PVSyst, Homer, Helioscope, Wind Pro or other simulation professional and design software would be an asset
Education and Experience
Electrical Engineering Degree or Certificate from an accredited College or University
Professional designation and / or PMP would be an asset
Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
