Job Summary
Provides incarcerated student with skills needed to work in the automotive technology field upon release. Courses focus on basic automotive service skills, automotive components, systems, theories, and testing procedures.
Incarcerated students choose one of three areas as an emphasis : internal combustion engines, air conditioning, or braking systems.
Essential Functions
provides instruction to students in vocational or occupational subjects in accordance with established competencies; monitors work performance of students, as assigned
10% - Assists in planning, developing and implementing outcome-based automotive courses
10% - Develops written syllabi, course outlines and student evaluations when required
10% - Evaluates and selects instructional materials appropriate to class and environment. Performs other duties as directed to meet Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) contract requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in area of assignment. Some assignments may require an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or higher depending on field of instruction.
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Desired Qualifications
A. Five (5) years directly related experience in automotive field OR academic degree and three (3) years in automotive field.
B. One (1) or more years of experience working with the incarcerated population or other underserved populations
C. One (1) or more years of experience working with adults in re-entry or transition
D. One (1) or more years of experience in basic coaching and leading others
E. One (1) or more years of experience with basic principles and practices of project management and program administration.
F. One (1) or more years of experience in teaching and / or training; shows evidence of effective written communication (through documents submitted)
G. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Industry certifications
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving : .
Travel to campus during interview / selection process will be at candidate’s own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
