We currently have an opportunity for a Regular Full Time Mental Health Clinician with the Thompson Anxiety Disorders Program Brain Sciences located at the Bayview Campus.

Summary of Duties :

The Frederick W Thompson Centre, within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, is a specialized program treating Obsessive Compulsive and related disorders.

In July 2017, the Thompson Centre opened a residential and day treatment program for OCD, treating patients with severely impairing OCD from across Ontario and Canada.

The mental health clinician will be part of a multi-disciplinary team within this new program. The person in this position will provide individual and group therapy, conduct screens for potential new admissions, support coached exposures during ERP sessions, conduct assessments (dependent on qualifications) and contribute to collaborative treatment plans for each patient.

  • Job activities include;
  • Facilitate group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (and other modalities like DBT / ACT)
  • Provide individual therapy
  • Develop and facilitate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
  • Actively participate in team rounds and collaborate with team members in provision of care
  • Contribute to program development and program evaluation
  • Conduct assessments to inform individualized treatment plans (dependent on qualifications)
  • Qualifications / Skills

  • Masters Degree in psychology, social work or related field required
  • Must be a current member in good standing and be registered with appropriate college
  • Minimum 3 years’ previous experience working in a mental health care setting required; experience within day hospital or residential treatment settings considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related disorders; as well as anxiety disorders more broadly
  • Proven excellent counselling and problem solving skills essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cognitive-behavioural therapy and its application in mood and anxiety
  • Superior communication, negotiation, mediation and collaborative inter-professional team skills required
  • Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-
  • paced environment required
