The Actuarial Analyst primary focus is valuation reporting duties and supporting senior valuation actuaries by developing / maintaining actuarial models for financial reporting and business planning.
Additionally, the analyst will implement valuation model improvements in the end-to-end valuation process with a focus on process efficiency and long-term sustainability.
Develop, maintain, and review actuarial models in Excel and other relevant applications, including setting up and maintaining appropriate assumptions.
Produce balance sheet entries for financial reporting, planning, and regulatory requirements, ensuring these items are appropriately documented, and assist with identifying changing requirements and adapting to maintain compliance.
Develop modelling and process methodologies to optimize RGA’s return on capital related to process improvement projects.
Provide support on reviews of actuarial software and valuation reporting processes.
Understand RGA’s current processes, how they interrelate, and communicate this information to others in a clear and concise manner.
Liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical discipline.
Perform valuation work and ad hoc department projects as needed and called upon.
Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field.
1+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance, with ASA or near ASA accreditation.
Solid computer skills, including Excel, database applications, statistical programs and actuarial software.
Knowledge of valuation methodologies commonly used by insurance companies.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.
Advanced level of investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills supplemented by a willingness to improve their ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.
Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in department / team projects, and balance attention to detail with high level objectives.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and quickly adapt to new methods.
Expertise in AXIS and / or Prophet (or equivalent actuarial software)
Experience in valuation or pricing for traditional life business
Understanding of liability modeling techniques
Understanding of US GAAP SFAS 60
Reinsurance industry and product knowledge
