The Data, Insights & Analytics team seeks to see, listen, understand, know and act better on behalf of our customers. We work with teams from across the organization and a tremendous wealth of data, to drive innovation and build analytic capabilities to support transformational initiatives.

We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist, People Analytics to drive research, problem-solving and automation. Reporting to the Senior Director Data Science, People Analytics, the incumbent will drive analysis, developing solutions and production-ready models to improve people’s experiences, engagement and behaviours, reduce costs, improve operations, store performance and deliver meaningful business outcomes through people analytics and effective storytelling.

The successful candidate will have experience with identifying needs and creating process improvement solutions, working with multiple stakeholders and maintaining collaborative relationships with HR and business partners and have a solid working knowledge of the disciplines of decision making science, system thinking and dynamics, data visualization, process mining and automation.

The candidate should have a solid working knowledge of Python, SQL, Tensorflow, Machine Learning, Text Mining / NLP / NLU and Organizational Network Analytics.

Process automation and software engineering skills are an asset.

The candidate will be a self-starter who has a passion for providing various ways to improve effectiveness within the business using people’s data.

The hands-on role requires applying analytic techniques to solve real-world problems and challenges.

What You'll Do :

  • Collaborate with the HR team and business partners to understand existing processes, identify areas of opportunities, translate their requests, questions and hypothesis into an order of operations and implement measurement roadmap including the build of data foundations / assets to support the roadmap
  • Build and support measurement and performance reporting; design and execute tests to better understand the impact of activities on people behaviours
  • Build a data-driven culture through collaboration across HR, businesses and Data, Insights & Analytics teams and a focus on critical thinking and problem formulation
  • Find the optimal balance between scientific rigor and practical application to improve decision making and drive tangible business impact through data-driven storytelling
  • Develop models to listen and understand people and to improve people experience, engagement and performance and to improve process efficiencies using Python, Tensorflow and SQL
  • Increase internal adoption of test design, statistical measurement and advanced analytics methodologies
  • Coach, train and mentor junior team members and help build an inclusive team culture
  • Design and build interactive and static data visualizations to provide actionable insights and enable strategic business decisions through data and insights-driven storytelling
  • Build statistical, descriptive and predictive models to support experimentation that are easily understood and replicated
  • Develop robust, high performance batch / streaming solutions and tune / optimize code
  • Strictly adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information
  • What You'll Bring :

  • University, Master or Ph.D. degree in an analytical field of study (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Industrial Psychology or other relevant fields).
  • Postgraduate degree preferred
  • 6+ years of work experience directly related to quantitative analysis with proven results
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, Azure, Databricks, Google Cloud or other tools for large scale data analysis.
  • Solid working knowledge of data (Relational, NoSQL and Graph databases) and text mining (NLP, NLU, etc.), statistical modeling, segmentation, predictive modeling, behavior econometrics, industrial psychology, organizational network analytics, system dynamics, process mining, time-series, data visualization and storytelling, and decision-making science
  • 5+ years of experience with machine learning, Scikit-learn, Keras and Tensorflow
  • Experience in software engineering / algorithms
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Databricks / GCP / Azure
  • DevOps experience with Dockers, Git (Bitbucket / Gitflow), Jenkins is an asset
  • Experience with at least some of the latest big-data tools, such as spark, kafka, etc. is an asset
  • Familiar with opportunity refinement, data product solution design validation and productization
  • Familiar with concepts and programming analogues in distributed compute vs. single threaded (Pandas / numpy / scikit-learn) and refactoring experience from the latter to former using (Pyspark / Dask / etc)
  • Experience with at least one modern REST framework (flask / Sinatra / express / etc) is an asset
  • Experience building with Microservices architecture is an asset
  • Superb critical thinking, problem-solving, storytelling and consulting skills to not only manipulate data but also derive meaningful interpretations from data and ability to articulate in a simple and impactful way as well as loving programming
  • Take initiative, work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workloads
  • Ability to liaise with all levels across the enterprise and foster strong business relationships
  • An efficient collaborator and consultant across all levels and ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person.
