The Maintenance Manager will ensure the continuous operation of all manufacturing equipment and oversee day to day construction projects being executed throughout the plant.
Their responsibility includes management of the Maintenance team and on site trade contractors as well as liaising with the Director of Plant Engineering and Director of Facilities and Security, as necessary, to determine priorities and objectives.
This positions is accountable for all of the above while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to their area of responsibility.
Manages general maintenance of existing production equipment, including replacement parts and lubrication
Accurately logging of all repairs and maintenance of equipment
Coordination of the installation of new equipment
Scheduling maintenance personnel to ensure adequate maintenance coverage
Ensures preventative maintenance procedures are followed and completed for all equipment including, but not limited to, the following : roof top units, chillers, air handling units, encapsulation machines, tablet press machines, packaging lines and secondary packaging equipment.
Maintains regular contact and coordinates with Director of Facilities and Security to ensure all on site facilities (i.
e. building shell, layout modifications) and security projects are executed as per their direction
Ensures breakdown maintenance is performed safely and efficiently
Oversees work of onsite trade contractors to ensure timelines are met and plant safety standards and procedures are upheld
Confirms that adequate training and equipment is provided and / or available for team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently
Orders machine parts and equipment to support maintenance and continuity of production
Prioritizes projects and preventative maintenance to maximize production
Responsible for ensuring staff follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, standard operating procedures, work procedures and company policies
Observes and enforces all company and department safety policies
Completes and approves payroll submissions
Conducts audits with safety authorities and regulatory inspectors as necessary
Other duties as assigned
Experience with a computerized maintenance management system preferred (CCMS)
Experience in a food or pharmaceutical / nutraceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
Good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, mechanics and HVAC
Knowledge and experience working with process equipment
Computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel and AutoCad.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Able to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to successfully drive initiatives independently
Ability to lead a team effectively and give positive feedback and constructive criticism
Supervisory or management experience an asset
Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Works well under time restraints
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi task
Proactively safety conscious
