Overview

This position is responsible for estimating pipe and precast work for both high level budgetary purposes and detailed bid submissions.

This includes performing take-offs, developing detailed estimates, tracking estimates, follow-up with potential clients in an attempt to secure work, obtaining quotes from material suppliers, shippers, engineers, etc.

liasing with other plants to ask for quotes or estimating support, adding all quotes to SalesForce and Bid2Win as required and assisting with ordering materials.

All quotes must be sent to the Pipe & Precast Manager prior to being sent out.

Responsibilities

  • Work with sales staff to prepare high level budget estimates for long range projects
  • Work with sales staff, suppliers, Operations Manager and Project Managers to develop detailed bid submission estimates
  • Perform take-offs from tender drawings
  • Negotiate with engineering, suppliers and shipping companies to obtain the best pricing possible
  • Interface continually with suppliers and shipping companies
  • Look for ways to save production materials, reduce costs, etc. while developing estimates
  • Look for and resolve errors in bid packages
  • Ensure labour and raw material costs are correctly included in quotes
  • Send quote to Pipe & Precast Manager for approval
  • Enter all estimates into SalesForce and Bid2Win
  • Maintain all files and records for all estimates
  • During production and installation, assist in providing customers with service, product information, pricing, quotations, schedules, quantity take off, alternatives, availability, follow up, dispatching of product, trouble shooting, etc. to meet their needs
  • After project completion, review estimates to determine where the estimate was accurate and where it was inaccurate and update methods and estimate templates going forward to be able to improve estimate accuracy

  • Strong computer skills including a thorough knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude
  • Qualification Profile :

  • E.T. or A.Sc.T. designation, Diploma in Contractor / Construction Management or 7 years related experience
  • PMP designation or 7 years related experience
  • 7 years of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD experience
