Your Opportunity

As the Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for business development and client management for the Mining team within the Saskatchewan region.

The Mining team pursues and executes mining projects of varying size and complexity throughout the world. We seek a driven individual who can communicate, interact and manage clients in the region, as well as a self-

starter who is willing to make initial client contacts to develop new business and new client relationships. The position requires an individual with exceptional communication skills and ability to coordinate / develop / execute the business development plan.

The successful candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of mining operations and experience in consulting engineering.

Your Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership, guidance, and collaboration.

Develop project opportunities with existing and new clients in the region.

Develop working relationships with other Stantec business centers for regional sales and networking.

Manage proposal development processes including conducting post-proposal interviews, recording responses and preparing recommendations for future opportunities.

Lead projects as project manager.

Work closely with the Business Center (BC) Manager Leader (based in Saskatoon) with respect to financial budgeting, forecasting, month end and other reporting.

Develops BC's annual strategic business plan outlining the vision, focus, and priorities for implementation and sets specific goals for performance and / or growth for the BC and develops the annual budget.

Establishes and maintains Stantec's position as one of the top professional services firms in the region for Mining.

Works collaboratively with BC, regional and national leadership to achieve business objectives.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Managed - Capital Projects and Budgets

Marketing and Business Development

Proposal Development including defining Scopes of Work, Estimating and Scheduling

Strong communication skills, oral and written

Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.

Understanding of project finance, budgeting and business case development

Strong mining background

Thorough understanding of Mining industry.

Proven leadership experience including operational, financial, people and project management.

Demonstrated leadership, communication and people skills.

Demonstrated integrity, accountability, creativity, high standards, ethical values and achievement orientation.

Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementing skills.

Committed to succession planning and staff development.

Proven ability to articulate vision and create a high level of engagement with staff.

Ability to build and maintain lasting relationship with internal groups, key business partners and clients.

Ability to negotiate skillfully in challenging situations with both internal and external groups.

Performs well under pressure.

Strong sense of teamwork and community.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business or related field or a technical degree / diploma / certificate or equivalent in related field;.

Minimum 10 plus years of mining, project management and business development experience
