This position is responsible for the direction of Shift Supervisors and co-ordination of day-to-day activities to achieve required safety, quality, service, productivity and financial objectives.

Specific Responsibilities

Ensures the efficient use of receiving and shipping personnel for grocery and dairy operations in both the Bantree and Industrial Avenue warehouses and to supervise the activities of the production supervisors.

  • Sets and enforces work performance and operating standards for employees and supervisors as well as trains and develops personnel to maximize productivity and enhance proficiency.
  • Ensures that material handling equipment is sufficient and in proper maintenance condition to meet all operational warehouse requirements.
  • Maintains high safety standards through ongoing training and upgrading of all personnel in order to achieve annual WSIB frequency targets.
  • Ensures that required emergency procedures are in place and communicated to all employees.
  • Ensures that all warehousing operations are carried out within the terms of the collective agreement, company policy and financial plan.
  • Handles labor relations and disciplinary matters affecting warehouse employees.
  • Deals with suppliers, outside contractors and other departments as they pertain to the warehouse operations.
  • Completes documentation and reports as required for the administration and operation of the grocery warehouses.
  • Assists in the preparation of the financial plan for grocery operations and the Industrial Avenue facility, and monitor and control operating expenses for same.
  • Manages special projects as planned and approved by the Director, Distribution and acts as a back-up in his absence from the workplace.
  • Specific Responsibilities


    College graduate or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Minimum of five years warehouse supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, organizational and planning
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) is an asset.
