PRODUCTION TECHNICIANS work in a team environment under the direction of the shift Team Leader and can fulfill a variety of functions including chemical processing, forklift operation and material handling and equipment operation :

You will work as a member of a team that will rotate job assignments and shifts as needed You will work to ensure plant production is safely met, utilizing the most efficient means, resulting in high quality products You will operate various pieces of equipment on multiple production lines across several technologies

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Chemical Processing :

  • Planning, receiving and blending of ingredients utilized in the manufacture of SCJ product
  • Dispensing and handling of relevant chemical raw materials and safe handling practices for hazardous materials related to the process
  • Utilization of SAP business system and Radio Frequency control on the lift trucks for the transferring of raw materials within the facility
  • Coordinating and unloading deliveries of bulk material
  • Input raw materials, concentrate batches and bulk waxes into SAP. Release, confirm and input processing orders into SAP
  • Material Handling :

  • Supplying of components to the production line, warehousing finished goods, live loading and maintaining accurate inventory information through SAP
  • Utilize various software programs to accurately and efficiently perform tasks, including SAP, Radio Frequency and Warehouse Management tools
  • Releasing orders, generating TO’s, printing pick lists, line supply and finished goods live load
  • Vehicle safety and ensuring battery / vehicle maintenance is followed
  • Utilizing FIFO principles when delivering components to the line
  • Operation of stretch wrap equipment, ensuring safety requirements are met
  • Equipment Operation :

  • Train on, operate and mechanically or systematically intervene with various types of low-tech and high-tech equipment
  • including filling, labeling, packaging and palletizing equipment

  • Prepare complete and accurate systems records and have an understanding of LEAN principals
  • Determine appropriate actions whenever direct or indirect intervention is required on equipment settings and resolution of equipment malfunctions
  • Lead and facilitate problem solving, loss teams, and autonomous production teams
  • Build technical capability to clean, inspect and lubricate; identify / fix abnormalities; and perform AM (autonomous maintenance) / PM (planned maintenance) work on equipment and setting centerlines
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines and participate in the Behavioral Based Safety process
  • Assure quality and use various tools, testing and auditing systems to document
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn, teach others and to take responsibility and ownership for various aspects of the lines
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Working knowledge of Safety, and Health and Environment principles and practices
  • Minimum completion of high school diploma (grade 12) or equivalent (proof will be required)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety or complexity
  • Demonstrated strength in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated basic math and measurement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexibility to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision to meet operational goals
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products (Outlook Calendar and Email; Word, Excel)
  • Ability to lift 18kg (approximately 40 lbs)
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, climb stairs, kneel, reach overhead, push, pull for up to 12 hours daily
  • Process oriented
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Must be available to work ALL shifts : days, afternoons, nights. There is a high likelihood for an off shift, and it may be a rotating schedule.
  • Must be willing to work a continental shift, as needed.

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Lift truck and / or warehouse experience
  • Previous experience in a chemical processing or batching role
  • Technical diploma or degree
  • Experience within a Lean Manufacturing Environment
  • Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting
