The Student Engagement Coordinator opening is for a 75% full-time position, planning and facilitating programming for incoming students.
Preferred effective date : Summer 2018.
Brief Description of Responsibilities
Facilitate an orientation program for incoming students in September and January
Facilitate LAUNCH (orientation program) for incoming students in September.
Interview, hire, and train Mission Control and LAUNCH leaders (student leaders who assist in facilitating LAUNCH).
Maintain and update orientation pages on the student life website.
Create a winter orientation for students who will begin their studies in January.
Through interactions and programming, create a positive campus environment for all students
Meet with the Campus Culture Assistant to plan and facilitate campus events to strengthen student connections.
Collaborate with student life staff, other staff and faculty to plan and facilitate programming on campus which provides opportunities for academic, emotional, relational, or spiritual growth.
Meet with Student Senate Activities Coordinator to collaborate on campus-wide activities and programming for the Rec Centre
Provide challenge and support for commuter and off-campus students
Interview, hire, and train Commuter Student Advisors. Meet with Commuter Student Advisors on a regular basis to plan activities, including orientation for commuter students.
Build healthy relationships with off-campus students and connect with them informally at campus events such as athletic events, concerts, or planned activities.
Serve as a conduct officer by facilitating conduct meetings with commuter and off-campus students.
Provide support for International Students
Interview, hire and train International Student Advisors. Meet with International Student Advisors on a regular basis to plan activities for International students.
With the assistance of Recruitment, plan and facilitate the International Student Orientation.
Build healthy relationships with international students and connect with them at international student events
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
BA required, Masters in Higher Education or related field preferred.
Previous experience in the areas of student life leadership and program planning is highly desirable.
