Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies (MARZ) is a Toronto-based VFX studio that's delivering feature-film quality on TV timelines.

Having worked on series such as The Umbrella Academy, HBO's Watchmen, The Boys and more, MARZ is looking for an Asset Supervisor to lead our amazing Asset team.

Responsibilities :

  • Participate and drive early creature character design and development
  • Analyze script breakdowns to determine assets required for production
  • Partner with the VFX and CG Supervisors as well as the Producer(s) to ensure assets are correctly built and stress-tested in the studio's pipeline as per the internal financial and creative parameters.
  • Work with layout, lighting, FX, and animation teams to find solutions that fulfill the creative and technical requirements of the show(s)
  • Help maintain clear and professional communication across all teammates
  • Work with Production to evaluate artist schedules ensuring they are optimal and realistic
  • Awareness and accountability for budget / bids of projects
  • Driving quality standards across all build disciplines
  • Attend dailies sessions with the team to give feedback / approvals
  • Direct the smooth movement of assets throughout all external facilities of the studio
  • Track asset creation and approvals through Shotgun
  • Ensure all the assets are optimized for viewport and render time performance
  • Ensure that all work carried out on the shows fit the MARZ pipeline
  • Sourcing suitable reference materials for required assets;
  • Skills & Experience :

  • 2-3 years of experience in a supervisor's or lead's position in the asset creation process for feature animation, live-action or animated TV series productions
  • Experience Zbrush, Substance Painter, PBR Shading (Redshift, V-ray, Arnold).
  • Highest proficiency in Maya, Mari, Zbrush, and Photoshop.
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy, sense of design, form, scale, and proportions in space;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • An experienced creative eye, with critical attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the entire production process, including stage shooting is preferred.
  • Ability to successfully delegate, mentor and manage people and projects.
  • Ability to understand the client approval process.
  • Must have a sense of strong team dynamics and good at providing positive feedback.
  • Having an understanding of the layout process and early phases of the pipeline would be an asset
  • Ability to produce specific models, optimized and well-ordered to facilitate the work of each department following : matte-painting, cloth, lighting;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and excellent organizational skills;
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptable to any changes;
  • A proactive approach to developing new systems and workflows
  • Should be adaptable to high pressure and should be able to adhere to timelines.
