We are looking for a seasoned and creative French Copy Editor to play a pivotal role in elevating our French assets and to help us establish our brand in the French Canadian market.

Collaborating closely with our Content Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing tone and voice guidelines to localize, strengthen, and amplify the Turo brand among French Canadians.

You’ll be in charge of ensuring the quality and consistency of all our French assets by reviewing, proofreading, and / or editing emails, ads, landing pages, blog posts, press releases, and other content.

You’ll also be tasked with helping create and enforce a French-language lexicon to help guide and inform our copy decisions in a way that honors our brand ethos and promotes consistency across the product, marketing materials, and support content.

You will be an integral part of our content creation, translation, and localization efforts and help us execute a customer-focused, multichannel marketing strategy that truly resonates with our French-speaking target audiences.

This is a collaborative role that works closely with a small but mighty team of marketers, copywriters, and translators.

What You’ll Do :

  • Proofread and edit all Canadian-French marketing assets using a sound understanding of French Canadian grammar, style, and expressions and knowing when and where to bend the rules.
  • Manage, build relationships and provide ongoing feedback to freelance Canadian-French copywriters and external partners.
  • Become a patron of our French tone and voice and act as our in-house expert for all things regarding Canadian French : creating and maintaining a Canadian-French lexicon, adapting our existing English editorial guidelines into Canadian-French, owning QA processes for all assets targeting Québec audiences, and reinforcing strict, high quality standards across all Canadian-French assets and campaigns.
  • Partner closely with Marketing teams to deliver on-message, strategically sharp content deliverables, using your understanding of content hierarchy, customer-centric messaging philosophies, branding, user experience, and content dissemination strategies.
  • Support our Product teams with thorough documentation and best practices for French translations.
  • Your Profile :

  • Fully bilingual and can seamlessly transition between Canadian English and Canadian French
  • Expert writer, editor, and proofreader with an understanding of B2B and B2C tones and messaging approaches
  • BA / BS degree in a relevant field (Translation, Humanities, Advertising, or related field), or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a writing and / or copyediting role
  • Experience with Canadian localization or writing for Quebec audiences
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating a mastery of the French language and a fondness for elegance, simplicity, and attention to detail
  • You are a down-to-earth, pioneering, supportive, efficient collaborator who can help enrich our team culture
