Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a consortium comprised of EllisDon, SNC-Lavalin, Aecon and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project and is seeking highly qualified, experienced personnel to join the team of this complex P3 design and construction project.
This position will assist the surveying team in evaluation and solution of potential field problems, referring them to the Chief Surveyor and other parties as required.
As a member of the site team, your duties include being able to perform layout work competently, accurately and efficiently.
General survey duties include holding level rod / distance metre reflector at designated points, call out readings, mark points of measurement with elevation, station or other marks, mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), paint, or stakes, and compile notes, sketches and records of data from work.
Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors.
Assist in preparing of accurate quantifies for labour cost reports, accurately monitor material ledgers to determine if quantities remaining in the estimate are sufficient to complete the project in the field.
Co-ordinate inspections with consultants and authorities as required by the contract. Inspect work for conformance to design drawings.
Monitor installation of rebar for conformance to structural drawings. Assist Project Superintendent by enforcing quality control, expediting subcontractors.
Continually update drawings with changes as issued by site team. Continually assist to find solutions to conflicts in structural / architectural / mechanical / electrical drawings and specifications by conferring with the technical team.
Co-ordinate these solutions with the various sub-trades. Review shop drawings for conformance with the contract and ensure information is communicated to foreman and superintendent.
Identify contract document conflicts and recommend solutions. Ensuring construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
Requirements : 6 months to 1 year of experience in construction engineering and layout. Graduate of a C.E.T or civil engineering program a must
Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment standards and procedures is necessary. Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others is a must.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives is preferred. Supervisory Responsibility : None Fiscal Responsibility
