Job Description :

Launched in August 2016, Digital Health Solutionsis the newest Business Unit in Sun Life Financial Canada. As a leading provider of health benefits in Canada, Sun Life supports the health care needs of Canadians with more than 75 million claims paid and more than 50 million health touchpoints per year.

The mandate of DHS is to act with agility and speed to invest in new partnerships and capabilities that provide innovative solutions for Canadians in the digital health space.

DHS brings Sun Life's own leading digital and health capabilities together with those of leading players from across the health care spectrum to help Canadians :

  • Role Summary :

    The Product Manager plays a key role in developing strategies and business models that advance the Digital Health Solutionsmandate.

    The role focuses on leading the identification and delivery of innovative product opportunities in the digital health space with a focus on leveraging Sun Life assets and connecting with external health care stakeholders.

    Examples areas of focus could include health provider networks, vision suppliers and services, and medical equipment and supplies.

    This position will report into the Product Director, Digital Health Solutions

    Main Accountabilities : Innovation

    Innovation

  • Proactively identifies and assesses solution opportunitiesand develops product strategies, considering client needs, competitive intelligence, and market disruption, while aligning with the Digital Health Solutions vision and roadmap.
  • Contributes to the development of the DHS strategy and initiative roadmap by recommending features and services required to maximize the client and product value proposition, as well as position Sun Life for revenue generation.
  • Leads product pilot delivery using a lean MVPbased test and learn methodology, while participating in development of strategies, business models, and business casesto execute delivery of the initiatives supporting digital health mandates
  • Proactively analyzes trends in results and client insights to recommend strategies for ongoing benefits realization following implementation of initiatives
  • Product delivery

  • Accountable for the management and delivery of digital health initiatives by supporting : planning; business value based prioritization;
  • resource & stakeholder management; execution; issue escalation and resolution; risk & financial management; communication and KPI management.

    Relationship management

  • Nurtures effective relationships with internal stakeholders to evolve digital health strategies and business / product models
  • Fosters relationships with external health care stakeholders and potential strategic partnersto evolve opportunity analysis and business model development.
  • Where required, also supports formalizing partnerships with external stakeholders through contract development and related due diligence activities

    People management

  • Develops people leadership skill through coaching DHS team members.
  • Competencies :

  • A passion for health and technology innovation, including a good understanding of consumer health technology as well as market trends and industry disruption
  • Knowledge and exposure to the health provider market
  • 5+ years product development experience including : Experience launching products to marketExperience with revenue generation and good understanding of the financial dynamics of product developmentExperience with market research and analysis including a strong working knowledge of ExcelExperience with vendor service agreements, contract management, and vendor relationship management
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills, and demonstrated ability to get things done, including : Solid project management skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsSolid communication skills including strong experience developing presentations in PowerPointEffective presenter, with the ability to influence

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Assets :

  • High attention to detail and accuracy of information
  • Experience with website and mobile app development - start-up experience ideal
  • An understanding of customer behaviour through the analysis of mobile and web data
  • Knowledge of the insurance and financial services industry
