Job Description

The Credit Investments (CI) department is responsible for all of CPPIB’s public and private credit investments globally.

The CI Business Management group leads business management activities that support the operations of CI in an efficient and effective manner.

We are recruiting for a Manager, Business Management within CI. The Manager, reporting into the Director, Business Management, will lead key initiatives and deliverables related to investment process, portfolio analytics, management reporting, departmental procedures and systems.

The role involves working collaboratively with CI investment teams and groups across CPPIB.

Role- Specific Accountabilities

Portfolio Analytics and Management Reporting :

  • Manage Board and intra-department management reporting and portfolio analysis
  • Lead CI’s annual budgeting process and assist the Director in preparing CI’s annual business plan
  • Support deal teams with aggregating and reporting on key metrics to monitor investment performance
  • Lead ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support business management and investment decisions
  • Systems and Projects :

  • Support the development of CI systems architecture and identification of systems requirements to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with CI investment groups and IT to design and develop analytics tools that assist with investment decision making and portfolio management
  • Coordinate requirement gathering, testing, training, maintenance and updates for departmental systems and tools
  • Manage intra-department initiatives and enterprise initiative on behalf of CI.
  • Operations :

  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of department policies and procedures; identify potential gaps or risks in execution and propose effective solutions
  • Oversee communication updates, information management and the coordination of departmental data requirements for CI
  • Support department investment committee processes
  • Identify and implement process improvements and adopt best practices in the Business Management function
  • Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting or other related discipline
  • 7+ years of finance and / or investment related experience; private asset experience is a definite asset
  • Thorough understanding of the investment industry, in particular, knowledge and understanding of operations, processes and requirements, including IT platforms and analytic tools that support investments is required
  • Strong analytical and management reporting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive performance for teams and projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good judgement and sense of priorities
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
