Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students on a daily basis and must be committed to safety and customer service.
In addition to your duties as a School Bus Driver, the principal duties and responsibilities of the Floater Driver are :
Complete mandatory wheelchair training
Be willing and able to drive any route and operate any equipment for Complex Learning Needs (CLN) or School Bus
Perform non-driving duties, as assigned, during scheduled hours
Drive safely and responsibly; be prepared for all road and weather conditions
Verify with Dispatch what schools are on PRO
Keep an up-to-date route binder
Maintain radio contact and use proper radio protocol
Be prepared and ready to go at the designated banking location assigned by dispatch; communicate with dispatch at the scheduled time
Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems
Floater Drivers work during the school year and are given time off during the summer or during school breaks.
Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) driver’s license (FREE Class 2 training provided)
4 or less demerits, with a relatively clean abstract
Clear criminal record
10 years commercial driver’s abstract
