  • Ensurethe safe operation of equipment and health and safety of employees in the workingenvironment.
  • The Quality Assurance Manager will interface with the SiteOperations Manager and the entire site Management Team. The incumbent will workdirectly with production supervisors and operators during quality systemdevelopment and audits.

    He / she will also work with central Quality Systems andthe QA network to develop standardized practices, procedures and improvementopportunities for PPG NA.

    Finally the QA Manager will liaison with the externalcertifying body for external audits. All of these actions directly affect themovement of products from the Vaughan site into the PPG NA supply chain.

    Leadership :

  • Ensuredaily schedule requirements are achieved through the support of the QualityGroup’s team’s work tasks.
  • Workwith Front Line Management to ensure business needs are met through the sharingof knowledge and resources as required.
  • Trainingnew and current employees to new and existing processes
  • Auditingprocesses and tasks for compliance and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Quality Management System :
  • To participate in the development and implementation of theNA PPG QMS at the local plant level plus the other two CDN sites.

    Work with all of the functional areas within the plant toensure all aspects of the NA PPG QMS are understood and being followed asspecified.

    To ensure allof the required QMS documentation is maintained and controlled within the siteand corporate document control system(s).

  • Direction of Quality Group Staff
  • Establish and monitor the required work flow and yearlygoals for the six QC Group members.

    Maintain theirHR requirements e.g. PLP's, timesheets, benefit needs, personal issues, etc.

  • Corrective Action Reporting
  • Facilitate compliance with the Corrective Action Reporting,i.e. the Internal, Customer and Supplier at the local and corporate levels.

    Ensure allmanagement levels at the local level are trained and / or understand therequirements of the various ICAR, CCAR and CAIR systems.

  • Voice of the Customer and NonConforming Materials
  • Ensurethat all complaints (both internal and external) are facilitated through thesite in a complete and timely manner.

    Provide support and training on the use of the complaint database systemat the site level.

    Trackand provide frequent updates to the site leadership team the relevant metricssurrounding Voice of the Customer (VOC).

    Ensurethat top quality concerns are being address in the proper manner to helpprevent further reoccurrence.

    Ensure / Facilitate the process that identifies and controls products and rawmaterials that do not conform to specifications are identified to preventunintended use or delivery.

    Work with site and corporatespecific groups to ensure all non conforming materials are recovered in atimely manner without risking further quality problems.

    Ensure that all nonconformance incidents are properly reported in the correct corrective actiondatabase with properly identified root cause and effective preventive actionsare implemented (see Corrective Action reports above).

  • Quality Training and Awareness
  • Ensure that site management understands the role andexpectations of the Quality Assurance Manager but also their roles in productionand shipment of quality coatings.

    Facilitatewith the site management team specifically directed departmental qualitydiscussions to ensure the link between the Customer -

    Consumer satisfaction andquality are understood.

  • Quality Audits (Internal andExternal)
  • Identifyand agree on the resources required for internal auditing of the sitescompliance to and improvement of the QMS.

    Ensurethat the site audit team is properly qualified, with procedures and tools toperform internal audits.

    Create and manage the internal audit schedule.

    Facilitate corrective actions related to the internal auditfindings.

    Facilitate and Manage site activates for external audits by qualitycertification bodies.

    Whenso requested to participate in and help manage external audits of contractmanufactures, supplies and any other external companies that provide goods / services to PPG NA / Global.

  • Escalatemanufacturing related issues to the appropriate support groups (QA, Process,Maintenance, Operations) and help in the resolution using the 5 why analysis
  • Recommendand actively support the implementation of process improvement opportunities
  • Assistin incident investigations and root cause analysis of FRB batches
  • Teamwork :
