Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking Crane Operator II.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of college / CEGEP / vocational or technical training;
  • The following Trade Certifications are required : Mobile Crane Operator with a Class 1 ticket; Overhead Traveling Crane Operator endorsement;
  • High standard of integrity and professionalism;
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being self-motivated to be able to work without supervision when required.
  • All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.

    S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Operate mobile and overhead cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials;
  • Perform pre-operational inspections, safety checks, test lifts and load chart calculations;
  • Communicate with site leadership to determine the best placement of crane for planned lifts;
  • Ensure that all rigging operations are carried out in a safe manner;
  • Service the hoist and swing equipment used to move machinery, materials and other large objects;
  • Assist with the crane assembly onsite;
  • Wear company issued coveralls and / or work wear and all assigned Personal Protective Equipment
  • Work safely;
  • You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job;
  • A pre-employment physical is required;
  • A background check will be performed by the Company.
