POSITION : Software Development Lead
REPORTS TO : Product Development and Engineering Manager
LOCATION : Ottawa, On
Established in 1982, and now a business unit within Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., Instantel is the global market leader in the design and production of vibration monitoring instrumentation.
Our products are used in over 120 countries. Applications include civil engineering, construction, environmental, mining, mining exploration, quarry, underwater, structural health, human annoyance, military and noise.
The Software Development Lead will play a critical part of the Product Development team.
Technical lead for the software development team
Guide / mentor more junior members of the software development team
Design, develop and innovate the architecture of our leading edge software in support of instrumentation and vibration monitoring products
Design applications utilizing current technologies to communicate with hardware devices via cellular modems, TCP / IP networking and the internet
Design intuitive user interfaces making use of current technologies in both the Windows and web based domains
Collaborate with the existing design team to drive innovation resulting in new products and enhancements of existing products and solutions
Lead key software projects assisting with planning, organizing, scheduling
Manage and execute project development plans while meeting or exceeding milestone targets
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics
In depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft .Net technologies, C# Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-
oriented application development techniques and theories
Extensive experience designing desktop and web based software utilizing proven design patterns (such as MVC, MVVM, etc)
Experience developing applications for iOS and Android devices a plus
Experience working within agile development teams including Product Owner, User Experience Designers, Software Developers, and Quality Assurance Analysts in the design, development and testing of simple, intuitive, easy to use and extremely user friendly software interfaces to complex programs
Experience with source code management systems, continuous integration / deployment environments and test automation
Must be a highly motivated, creative team player and a proven self-starter that seeks to improve solutions, systems and processes
Very strong English communication skills a must
