For more information we invite you to visit andWhat we are looking forWe are seeking a confident, organized and solution-oriented team player to join our legal team and fill the position of Legal Manager.

The role is based in Montreal and reports to the Head of Legal Canada based in Mississauga, Ontario.The Legal Manager will act as an in-house lawyer providing legal services to all business units of JTI Canada with an emphasis on the Global Supply Chain (GSC) which comprises the activities of the Montreal plant, on a variety of legal issues.

Our plant is unionized and the Legal Manager will also be the main advisor on labour relations matters. The aim is to achieve corporate and commercial objectives in a manner that ensures compliance with the law and appropriate monitoring and management of legal risk.

ResponsibilitiesAssume the main advisory role for legal issues pertaining to GSC, procurement and labour relations.Together with the legal team, provide advice, draft and negotiate a range of agreements, including reviewing and developing template documentation as may be required for repetitive use.

Analyze legal risks in a wide range of matters related to commercial, regulatory and compliance law.Provide legal advice on labour and employment law matters.

Assume an advisory role in health, safety and environment matters.Provide support during audits, inspections or interactions with authorities.

Review proposed legislation, assess impact and keep the business informed, including by preparing and providing training if and when appropriateWork collaboratively as part of the legal team and provide legal support to matters and / or JTI business functions as determined from time to time.

QualificationsMember of the Quebec Bar5 to 8 years of practiceFully bilingual (French and English)Excellent communication skills, both written and spokenExcellent decision-making and management skillsAbility to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and collaborate with all members of the organizationOccasional travel may be requiredAdditional InformationJTI-Macdonald Corp.
