What you'll be doing
Providing consultation and analysis on issues related to employee relations, talent and performance management, compensation, and legal and procedural compliance.
Building strong relationships and credibility with all levels of employees and management at Homewood Ravensview and with Homewood Health Inc. nationally
Working on local and national HR projects and programs : planning, implementing and contributing to projects for key initiatives
Working with the HR team to improve and integrate HR practices, process decisions and programs, to meet business and employee needs.
Collaborating with our recruitment team, to act as the liaison with talent acquisition for Homewood Ravensview
Assisting in development, and delivery of management and staff training programs
Ensuring that all HR-related licensing requirements at Homewood Ravensview are met
Guiding employment equity program and diversity initiatives
Work closely with senior leaders at Homewood Ravensview to develop the desired culture. This would include a number of initiatives such as leading the One Healthy Homewood Committee, engagement and recognition programs, and establishing employee communications.
Reviewing and analyzing HR metrics and performance indicators such as turnover, exit interviews, and absenteeism to provide insights and recommendations
What we're looking for
5-6 years progressive HR experience in a fast-paced organization, including 2-3 years in an HR Generalist Role in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
Previous experience in a mental health, long-term care, or other related facility would be a definite asset.
Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Human Resources or other relevant discipline
In the future, very occasional travel to Vancouver or Guelph may be needed
Strong understanding of the labour market in the Greater Victoria area
CPHR designation preferred
Proven ability to coach staff and management, acting as a business partner
Knowledge of Canadian Employment laws and HR best practices
Experience with culture development initiatives.
Experience in talent acquisition and guiding hiring managers in the process to select the best candidates
Experience in developing and promoting employment diversity initiatives preferred
Demonstrated interpersonal, presentation and communication skills to effectively partner with all levels of employees and leadership.
Effectively demonstrates these skills both in person and remotely
Results-oriented and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and project timelines
Ability to diagnose and help to resolve complex employee relations issues
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; French language skills are an asset
Comfortable with change and able to coach others through organizational change
Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to understand broad Human Resource issues and resolves conflict situations in a diplomatic manner
Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel (Advanced) and Power Point, HRIS, and online meeting systems such as Zoom or WebEx.
Applicant Tracking System experience is an asset.
