The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (1 year) Registered Nurse to work in the Non-Forensic Acute Crisis Unit.
As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care. In addition, you will ensure the security and safety of the inpatient unit, and practice in accordance with the CNO standards, CAMH Policies and Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
Using a primary nursing model, you will be expected to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client-care for clients with schizophrenia.
You will liaise with other services within the Complex Care and Recovery Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients.
You will be expected to utilize critical thinking, a problem solving process and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery.
provide education support and supervision to students, and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, perform ongoing assessments including physical and mental status assessments, monitor client’s response to pharmaceutical and care interventions, documentation, group facilitation, and to effectively communicate with other team members.
You will have sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, recovery-oriented approaches, trauma-informed care, culturally competent care, as well as severe and persistent mental illness and schizophrenia.

The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team.
Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour.
Psychiatric / mental health nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and / or addictions is required. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary.
Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French / English) and / or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

S alary Range : $33.23 - $47.57 per hour
