Due to continuing growth in our Rail / Transit practice, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer Rail / Transit for any of our GTA offices.
This position will be integral in the development and growth of GHD's Transit / Rail practice.

Work closely with the Rail and Transit Business Lead and Managers, Project Directors and Rail and Transit Design Manager with a primary focus on electrical design
Design of power distribution (medium and low voltage), lighting design and simulation, fire alarm and life safety systems, communications (PA, intercom, CCTV), industrial equipment installations
Technical calculations and software use for lighting analyses, load calculations, arc flash, fault & coordination studies, power system design
Working on Alternative Financing project (P3 and Design-Build)
On site electrical research, construction audits, field reviews, Commissioning electrical systems
Managing an electrical design team and enhancing client relationships
Provide strategic input into complex design options and solutions that fit the Client’s requirements
Coordinate all aspects of the electrical design including being responsible for the design deliverables
Develop or verify the technical scope of a project
Complete electrical designs following the budget and schedule
Participate in track design coordination meetings and address critical issues that impact external partners
Work closely with the engineering group to facilitate decision making related to the electrical design, the choice of process and equipment and day-to-day problems
Ensure the client’s requirements including specifications and standards are integrated into the project
Ensure quality controls processes are being followed
Mentor and develop junior staff
Partner with the Project Manager on the budget and schedule on a regular basis, identifying gaps, and providing solutions to achieving the scope, budget and schedule requirements
Represent GHD at Client meetings when required
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :
Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in electrical engineering from a recognized college or university
Professional Engineer of Ontario
LEED and PMO accreditation is preferred
Minimum of 10 years' of extensive technical design experience
Proven experience in electrical design delivery for larger, multi discipline projects specifically, complex rail, transit and facilities
Experience working in a Design Build environment
Detailed understanding of local Agency (or equivalent) Codes and Standards is considered essential
Thorough understand of Building Information Management and its application in producing 3D design for Rail and Transit projects
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and BIM, and electrical industry and ASHRAE software
Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience.
Experience on projects with sustainable design and LEED aspects related to electrical design elements.
Previous direct project experience with an architectural / engineering or engineering consulting firm
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability to deal with uncertainty, changing and multiple priorities
