Our client is a leader in the space and provides landscaping, excavation, demolition, civil, and concrete work for both private and municipal owners.
They are currently searching for an Estimator to contribute with accurate quantity, take offs, in depth estimating, sub-trade solicitation, competitive bid comparisons and document control.
Your tasks as an Estimator :
Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates based on efficient construction practices, and using the most competitive and reliable subcontractors and suppliers
Completes full quantity take-off of all labour, equipment and materials required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accuracy of pricing
Assists in Preparing final bids in conjunction with the Chief Estimator and Vice President of Estimating
Assists in preparing RFP and RFQ packages
Regular liaison with general contractors, consultants, municipal engineers, and construction management firms to pursue tender invites and awards;
negotiate contract agreements. Create and maintain effective relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, architects, designers, field superintendents, and internal staff
Aid in project management of contracts awarded or assigned to the incumbent including attending site meetings, identifying and pricing extra work, coordinating and scheduling the project to satisfy the customer’s needs, resolving contract disputes with the customer and any third parties, invoicing, and account collections, accruals with construction, and any assistance to construction to measure the jobs
Production analysis of projects actual to bid, cost / profit analysis of same
Provide technical assistance to the Project Manager as required
The required qualifications for the Estimator position :
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Quantity Surveyor or Civil Engineering / Civil Engineering technologist.
PQS, CEC, GCS, CET. Eng. Or EIT designation is an asset
1-3 years construction estimating experience in heavy civil, earth work or sewer and water main
Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word and MS Projects / Scheduling
Construction software and implementation experience an asset
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Solid understanding and interpreting of drawings and specifications
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
