Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, non-production assets for our base plant operations, you will lead a large, diverse team to manage the efficient, reliable and safe operations of our buildings across site.

Key Accountabilities

  • Directly responsible for the maintenance and reliability of the buildings on Suncor base site, including HVAC, electrical, sheet metal, plumbing, carpentry, and building automation
  • Manage an operating budget of over $40 million annually
  • Lead a large team of over 200 people, including staff, unionized employees and contractors
  • Monitor and analyze unit performance and create guidelines and practices to optimize performance while maintaining operational targets
  • Take the lead, and promote amongst your supervisors, problem solving operating issues while simultaneously anticipating the impact of problems and resolutions on other areas of the business
  • Identify, develop, and implement creative ideas to improve profitability
  • Drive the priority of safety and empower your team to work with integrity; support safety incident investigations and commit to meet deadlines for recommendations
  • Conduct and support safety meetings; ensure safe work practices are being practiced in the field by routinely conducting audits and observing personnel
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships among diverse groups internally to meet operational objectives
  • Review and approve work notifications and coordinate with partners to prioritize and schedule maintenance work
  • Communicate upcoming and in progress maintenance plans to your supervisors to ensure that equipment is readied for maintenance and all partners are aware of changing status
  • Experience and Education :

  • Five years or more supervisory experience with a bachelor degree in engineering; or 10 years supervisory in an industrial environment
  • Experience managing large industrial buildings is an asset
  • Experience leading a diverse team built of multiple trades and disciplines is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Skills and Knowledge :

  • You can manage conflicting priorities and execute with limited supervision
  • You have strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relations across diverse groups
  • You excel under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • You are committed to safety and maintain a strong work ethic
  • Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
