Position Summary

Conducts internal (associate) and external (customer) investigations related to financial loss.

Position Responsibilities

  • Conducts internal investigations involving associate dishonesty (i.e. : malicious behaviour, policy violations, etc.) and supports Market Loss Prevention Manager (MLPM) with investigations assigned by Walmart Canada Ethics.
  • Conducts external investigations involving large scale theft (i.e. : organized retail crime).
  • Conducts internal interviews and external apprehensions as required.
  • Prepares thorough investigative reports, maintains accurate case file notes and communicates findings to leadership.
  • Identifies process gaps in Company processes / policies and conducts root cause analysis to prevent future breakdowns.
  • Conducts in-person and / or online training sessions and participates in communication forums as required. Participates in the on-
  • boarding of new associates and ongoing knowledge transfer to existing associates.

  • Builds and maintains strategic relationships with store management, local law enforcement and industry partners.
  • Maintains adequate level of communication with and acts as a strategic partner to the Loss Prevention Analyst (LPA), Market Loss Prevention Manager (MLPM) and In-
  • Store Loss Prevention Associate (ISLP) in the day-to-day management of investigations to mitigate loss and risk.

  • Other responsibilities may be added to this position as the needs and requirements of the Company increase.
  • Qualifications

  • Provincial Security Guard license (where required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No police record (Criminal Background Check).
  • Must be willing and able to travel multiple geographical areas to work in stores outside of own market.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and critical thinking skills when making decisions and solving problems.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to adapt to a changing retail environment, competing demands, and new responsibilities.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and focused on results.
  • Must be able to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to develop and implement plans, practices, and processes to better achieve organizational goals.
  • Must have flexibility regarding work hours (day, evening, weekend and occasionally night shifts may be required).
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal, written) and active listening skills.
  • Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • French-English bilingualism, an asset.
  • Previous investigative experience, an asset.
  • Previous knowledge of Walmart processes, policies, and programs, an asset.
  • Licensing & Other Qualifications

    The Associate must complete all Wal-Mart Basic and Advanced Training Modules and classes
