CIMA+ is currently seeking applications for a Director Transportation Structures based in either our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta office.

We are interested in highly-qualified individuals with more than 20 years of progressive technical experience leading the design and delivery of major highway bridges, urban interchange structures, multi-

span crossings over water bodies, and railway grade separations. Reporting directly to our Regional Vice President, the successful candidate should have strong business development experience, superb interpersonal skills, and excel in written and verbal communication.

We are looking for a formidable leader and team-builder who will play a critical role in CIMA’s strategic growth. CIMA+ is a well-

established, multidisciplinary, Canadian engineering firm with expanding operations in Western Canada.


  • Build, manage and lead a regional Transportation Structures practice.
  • Develop and foster strong Client relationships.
  • Identify and pursue talent.
  • Lead and / or support major opportunity pursuits (including design-build / P3) and preparation of proposals.
  • Collaborate with other offices and sector leaders across Canada.
  • Risk management.
  • Train and mentor professional staff.
  • Senior technical oversight and quality management.
  • Manage project budgets / schedules and ensure adequate staff on-hand to execute projects.
  • Qualifications

  • Exceptional leadership skills, team spirit and a capacity for finding solutions to problems.
  • A master’s degree in Structural Engineering, combined with a minimum of 20 years of major bridge engineering experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant project experience in Western Canada.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills including a strong command of English (written and verbal).
  • Licensed by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
  • A large network of Client and industry contacts.
  • Acumen in marketing and business development.
  • Design-build / P3 experience.
  • Construction site experience.
  • Northern experience.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.
