About the Role
We are looking for someone who has a passion and experience in designing interiors for workplace, institutional and commercial spaces and who is interested in pushing the design boundaries.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to :
Tell your story through your design
Lead and assist in design presentations
Prepare and co-ordinate project schematic / conceptual design drawings to convey to clients.
Prepare required layouts, sketches and space plans required to convey design intent.
Build and maintain great client relationships with external and internal clients
Meet with prospective clients and assist in the preparation of proposals and fee letters
Communicate and coordinate required design, project and firm information to both internal and external parties as required with project consultants, contractors and manufacturers
Coordinate document requirements with design team and corresponding plans and drawings
Communicate and coordinate with integrated design team of internal and external architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical consultants and other specialty consultants
Communicate and coordinate with vendors
Apply building code and construction regulations
Prepare working contract documents, plans, details and schedules, using AutoCAD / Revit software. (Revit experience is an asset, however, training will be provided)
Attend on-site visits and field reviews and direct contractors and vendors as required
Lead and supervise project team, manage project schedules and resources
Coach and mentor team members
Coordinate and / or undertake the preparation of required project documents, minutes, schedules and specifications
Co-ordinate and / or undertake the selection and specification of furniture systems, fixtures and equipment
Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance reviews
Degree or diploma in Interior Design or Architecture with a minimum of 10 years related experience in workplace, institutional and commercial interior design
NCIDQ qualifications, registered with AAA or equivalent
A strong portfolio demonstrating significant design skills on projects from concept through to completion
Experience working on multiple projects, and successfully managing priorities, conflicting deadlines and various demands
Strong conceptual design and presentation experience through the use of 3D models in SketchUp, AutoCAD (Revit experience is an asset) and other 3D or graphic design programs
Well rounded experience in Interior design phases, pre-design to construction administration
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Very strong written and verbal skills are required
Active participation in the community and affiliated industry organizations
Experience preparing working drawings and construction documents
Ability to hand sketch will be considered an asset
Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Reader / Writer, experience with PowerPoint is an asset
Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines to incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
