The Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing urban sustainability and community engagement projects, particularly with diverse communities including vulnerable populations in the Metro Vancouver area.
Major deliverables include the design, planning and implementation of community research and engagement processes focused on climate adaptation and the impacts of climate hazards on vulnerable populations;
as well as working with project stakeholders to identify equitable, community-grounded responses to climate change impacts that build local resiliency.
This position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including municipal staff, social service organizations, social / non-
market housing, and vulnerable populations, with a focus on seniors and residents of the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood.
The Project Manager will be responsible for project management and / or providing project implementation support for other Evergreen city building projects as assigned by the BC Program Manager.
Efficient completion of project deliverables, effective quality control, and clear and timely communication with stakeholders are critical tasks that will be performed by the Project Manager.
Successfully manage and implement projects subject to evolving specifications.
Work with BC Program Manager to plan and meet project timelines, milestones, and deliverables according to Project Charter and Work Plan specifications.
Ensure the effective design and delivery of community engagement activities in collaboration with project stakeholders;
develop community engagement and project promotional materials; adapt activities as needed based on feedback.
Organize and facilitate stakeholder interviews, meetings, dialogues / focus groups, community workshops and other events for assigned projects.
Track project expenses; reallocate resources across multiple project activities where necessary; identify and resolve any resource allocation discrepancies and report on spending to BC Program Manager.
Closely monitor the efforts and billing of third-party consultants, contractors, and other specialists as required.
Manage project dependencies, create contingency plans to mitigate risk, and produce regular status reports on the progress of projects;
ensure effective communication and recommend solutions to the BC Program Manager and project stakeholders as needed.
Conduct project post mortems to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
Track project statistics, and develop project activity and outcome reports for funders and stakeholders.
Support Evergreen’s fund development team to develop grant applications, and collaborate with the BC Program Manager to steward relationships with funders and community partners.
Complete other tasks as assigned.

Supervised by : BC Program Manager
Post-secondary education with a concentration in public policy, urban / regional planning, environmental sustainability, urban studies or related discipline required;
Master’s level education preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
2-4 years’ relevant Project Management experience, coordinating complex, cross-sectoral projects.
Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
Effective negotiation, diplomacy and conflict resolution skills.
Understanding of city building and urban sustainability issues, trends and stakeholders in Metro Vancouver.
Experience working with vulnerable populations; knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety an asset.
Office environment, located in Vancouver.
40 hours per week; with some evening and weekend work as required.
