Duration : This is a term contract position, up to 6 months

What is an Equipment Service Technician?

The Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs in all aspects of cardio and strength fitness equipment service including diagnostics, parts ordering, remove and replace practices, and audio visual troubleshooting.

Working to maintain and promote a high functioning fitness club environment, the Service Technician will carry out overall service mandates in accordance with GoodLife’s core values and corporate standards.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform service and repairs in a timely and professional manner
  • Use maintenance software system to obtain and complete service requests
  • Create work orders as required to supplement service requests from club staff
  • Carry out Preventative Maintenance on a regular basis
  • Maintain appropriate level of work order completion
  • Apply service notes, time & material, and status updates as they relate to individual work orders
  • Communicate proficiently with Service Coordinators to ensure proper work flow compliance
  • Review work orders to prioritize according to urgency and geographic proximity
  • Foster communications with Club leaders and / or Senior Motivator to promote accurate representations of service needs as documented in maintenance software system
  • Complete tasks to the best of your ability and do not attempt to perform tasks that require a licensed tradesperson
  • Practice safe and professional driving habits when traveling in company vehicles
  • Attend various meetings and training courses as required
  • Provide support for equipment installations and new club openings
  • Provide support with facility service work as required
  • Do you have what it takes?

  • Completion of high school diploma
  • Post secondary education an asset
  • Previous experience in fitness industry an asset
  • Previous experience in all aspects of fitness equipment service / repair an asset
  • Previous experience in all aspects of facility maintenance an asset
  • General knowledge of mechanical diagnosis and repair an asset
  • Demonstrated customer service abilities
  • Strong time management, planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Team Focused Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to Learn Problem-Solving; action driven
  • Flexible and Adaptable
  • Demonstrates functional and technical skills
  • Ability to relate well with others
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for E-mail, Internet, MS Office Professional, CMMS Maintenance Software system
  • Maintain mindful working relationship with club associates and members
  • Maintain strong communication with Regional Facilities Manager and Club Services Department
  • Working Conditions :

  • Home-based office (business equipment provided by GoodLife)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Daily commuting between various club locations
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be expected
