Reporting to the Manager of Cardio-Respiratory, the secretary will schedule, receive and process patients for the Breathing Centre.

The successful candidate will complete dictation of reports. You may be scheduled at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs.

Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Administration certificate / diploma or equivalent or have minimum of 1 year current relevant clerical experience in a hospital setting
  • Medical terminology (testing will be administered)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Typing skills, with a minimum of 35 wpm and 90% accuracy (testing will be administered)
  • Demonstrates accurate filing skills (Will be required to complete and pass the skill assessment)
  • Experience with Order entry and Meditech
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service, strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, prioritization and time-management skills
  • Excellent telephone skills, able efficiently manage up to 3 telephone lines
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Demonstrates values consistent with Scarborough Health Network (SHN) Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient / staff population and community
  • Excellent work performance and attendance
  • Asset :

  • Experience with Community Wide Scheduling and appointment bookings
  • Familar with PACS and teletracking
  • Ability to speak another language
