Working with HR, Payroll Shared Service Centre, management and employees to prepare and process weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll using ADP system and Shopvue time and attendance systems
Application of union collective agreement, legislative regulations and company policies to process accurate payroll on a timely basis
Supervision of staff of one person
Posting of entries to general ledger accounts, preparation and payment of various payroll remittances, reconciliation of payroll ledger accounts, prepare accruals for accurate period end cutoff, updating of headcount and payroll statistics for internal reporting and issuing intercompany invoices for payroll cost recharges
Prepare headcount and payroll cost budgets, including benefits, for review with HR and management and issue monthly variance reports and periodic rolling forecast
Update of payroll procedures for internal controls review and testing, make suggestions on procedure improvements, communicate with other Safran associated company payroll departments on procedures, legislative changes, tools and practices, etc.
Prepare working papers to support internal, statutory and government agency audits
Company Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension accounting and reporting, including filing of regulatory forms, preparation of asset statutory financial statements for audit, supply of data to and correspondence with HR, Asset Managers, Corporate Headquarters and Actuary.
Maintain confidentiality while responding professionally to employee, HR, and external requests for information dealing with sensitive issues while maintaining positive working relationships
Participate on working committees and in ad hoc meetings dealing with pay related topics such as policies, procedures, systems tools, audits, benefit plans and strategic change analysis
Prepare all year end reporting requirements related to taxable benefits, share save schemes, pension and account reconciliations
Successful completion of a University degree in Business Administration or a related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation of the Canadian Payroll Association program and / or a Chartered Professional Accounting designation a strong asset.
Minimum of 8 years payroll experience preferebly in an Manufacturing Unionized enviroment
Demonstrated experience in the usage and the development of relevant financial systems, such as ADP, PeopleSoft Payroll / Time & labour systems
Progressive payroll and / or accounting experience in a large multi-divisional organization, including demonstrated supervisory experience, handling financial analysis, automated payroll functions and payroll related policy and procedure development.
Sound knowledge of payroll systems and practices, collective agreement interpretation and applicable legislation.
Knowledge of and demonstrated abilities in core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative / self-

Knowledge of Workforce Now system a desired asset
Accounting skills to assist in budget planning, journal entries, accruals, and monthly reporting and experience working with a payroll shared service centre would also be an asset.
Minimum age of 18 years.
Canadian Controlled Goods Regulations (CGR), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances and applicable contractual obligations.
