FINANCIAL REPORTING :
Lead the coordination and preparation of the monthly pension and OPEB accounting entries for Enbridge Inc. and all of its subsidiaries, on multiple GL systems.
Includes the review and approval of entries prior to posting, and oversight of timely execution and documentation of all related account reconciliations in accordance with the applicable Sarbanes-
Oxley (SOX) controls compliance requirements.
Lead the coordination, preparation, analysis and reporting of the annual and interim financial statements and related note disclosures pertaining to pensions and OPEBs for Enbridge Inc.
and certain public reporting subsidiaries, including gathering support documentation from other departments and external sources and preparing support schedules and working papers as required for SOX compliance and external audit purposes.
Respond to requests from external auditors as needed, collaborating with other team members, departments or external sources as necessary to be able to provide accurate, timely responses.
Participate in the preparation of business unit and corporate budgets and forecasts for pension and OPEB costs, and responding to business units and other departments queries on on budgets, forecast or variances.
Contribute to the planning for, preparation of and audit of the annual financial statements for each of the registered pension plans and certain other post-
retirement plans. Requires a significant level of co-ordination and information gathering from other departments and external service providers and close communication with the external auditors.
Prepare ad-hoc analysis or reports as requested by other team members, departments or business units.
Identify and share process improvement opportunities.
ACCOUNTING RESEARCH :
Monitor and evaluate US GAAP and securities and other regulatory requirements to ensure plan financial statements an entity financial statement accounting and note disclosures related to pensions & OPEBs are in conformity with applicable rules and requirements, and that plan financial statements are complete, accurate and are filed by the relevant filing deadline.
Research accounting standards, including US GAAP to assess applicability to Enbridge Inc. and its subsidiaries.
Provide information and support to Accounting Research on their updates to accounting policies and procedures related to pensions and OPEBs.
Ensure Corporate and applicable subsidiary accounting policies are adhered to.
Coordinate with the Accounting Research group on the delivery of support required related to the accounting and disclosure of pensions & OPEBs for transactions, such as acquisitions and dispositions.
Advise business units and subsidiaries as to the implications on financial statements, note disclosure requirements and budgets and forecasts related to major accounting policy changes, business changes or transactions.
Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives.
Assist in the preparation of Pension and other Committee reports and memoranda.
Mentor, coach and indirectly supervise junior members within the Financial Reporting - Pensions group including review of their work and assistance in assessing their performance.
Designated accountant with 7+ years of relevant post-qualification experience
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP with an aptitude for and interest in complex accounting subjects
