The Team

This position belongs to a highly skilled development team that develops and supports various applications in growing Global Regulatory & Compliance Technology team.

The team is responsible for providing specialized analysis, design, development, and support of cost effective, mission critical, on-line, risk management and decision support systems for business users within Scotiabank IT group.

The role :

The ideal candidate will be working in an agile environment and will need a passion for continuous improvement. Firsthand experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products will be beneficial.

Is this role right for you?

  • Work in a cross functional Agile team to deliver regulatory and compliance solutions
  • Build data layer frameworks to perform data wrangling
  • Re-architect existing silo applications into a platform of micro-services using continuous deploying Docker containers
  • Keep current on rapidly changing technological trends, self-leaner on new technologies and maintain an understanding of the business and technology strategies.
  • Curate data source to ensure completeness and accuracy for better future reuse
  • Be the change agent to advance the group through data and analytics maturity model
  • Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • A recognized degree in engineering, computer science, math or related discipline
  • Experience with J2EE
  • Full stack experience Front End with Angular or React with Flask
  • Expert experience with at least one programming languages : Java / Python / Scala / Q
  • Expert experience with at least one database technology : Oracle, Postgres, kdb, ElasticSearch, GraphQL
  • Familiar with big data tools : Spark, Parquet, Dask
  • Experience building modern data pipelines to acquire and normalize diverse data source
  • Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
  • Passionate about adapting new technologies to accelerate business value delivery
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
