Job Description

What will you work on? The Entertainment Tax Incentive Specialist is responsible for overseeing the film and television tax incentives for all projects in the content pipeline at Spin Master Entertainment. How will you create impact?

Manage all activities related to the budgeting, administration, and collection of tax credits, and oversee post-production accounting activities.

Ensure all projects are set-up to qualify for and maximize tax incentives, including reviewing budgets, finance plans and other documents throughout the production planning process to provide appropriate guidance to Production, Development and Legal teams as required.

Responsible for reviewing or preparing tax credit estimates for all content projects, including analyzing incentives between jurisdictions.

Monitor projects throughout production, working with Production teams to review cost reports and crew lists to ensure all tax credits remain on budget and out-of-jurisdiction spends are managed to plan.

Responsible for managing all tax credit applications from initial submission to final certification.

Maintain and update the tax credit tracker & provide monthly status reports on all outstanding tax credits.

Support the Entertainment Finance team in corporate reporting activities, including reviewing tax credit journal entries and interim estimates, preparing lead sheets and analysis, and liasing with production accountants to maintain accurate records.

Oversee production audits and tax returns with external accountants, working with the Production Finance team to ensure all required files are delivered on a timely basis, and managing the production audits to ensure final tax credits are collected expediently.

Manage any CRA audits on production, working with the VP, Entertainment Finance and VP, Global Taxation as required.

Keep current with changes to funding agency requirements.

How will you fit into the team?

Strong knowledge of Canadian Film and Television tax incentives

Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel

Strong written communication skills required.

Experience working with Ontario Creates and CAVCO an asset, experience with industry Production Accounting software also considered an asset

What are your skills and experience?

3+ years of experience in accounting, production finance or business affairs, preferably within the Canadian Film and Television industry, or Animation.

Bachelor Degree, preferably in accounting or finance

Accounting designation an asset.

Experience in post production accounting and managing CRA audits considered an asset

Knowledge of, or experience in, animation production an asset.
