Reporting to the Lead, Development and Philanthropy, Foundry and working closely with Foundry’s Communications and Engagement team and Foundry’s online team based at BC Children’s Hospital, the Communications and Digital Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a wide range of communications activities with a special focus on digital communications for Foundry an initiative with the goal of providing youth and young adults with enhanced access to integrated services, thereby easing transition points for youth and their families.
The Communications & Digital Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and executing digital engagement strategies using web, social media, videos, virtual reality tours and brand presence to support Foundry’s engagement for a wide variety of stakeholders with a focus on youth and families in BC and across Canada.
The Specialist creates digital, print material, graphic design and supports Foundry’s knowledge products ensuring brand consistency aligns with Foundry’s vision.
Determines strategies to monitor and report on user experience and all communications activities, participates in quality improvement initiatives and develops presentations and materials in support of representing Foundry at meetings and conferences.
Ability to work in a fast-pace environment, and the flexibility to learn and meet changing needs while remaining focused on long-term goals.
Familiarity and understanding of the health care system, specifically youth mental health.
Demonstrated ability to deliver effective, innovative, and data-driven digital campaigns.
Demonstrated ability using established and emerging social media channels for communication and audience engagement.
Knowledge of social media statistics reporting and tracking tools (such as Hootsuite, Facebook Insights).
Knowledge of SEO, SEM, web analytics, and digital reporting (such as Google Analytics, Google Data Studio).
Demonstrated ability using email marketing systems (such as Pardot) and content management systems (such as WordPress).
Familiarity with web technologies including HTML, CSS, wikis, image formats, streaming media, and search engines.
Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of graphic design principles and a working proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash.
Ability to think creatively and use research and analytic skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in project management and ability to complete multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability in copy-editing, proofreading and preparing content for publications, documents, reports, and communication materials for mass distribution.
Proficiency in the use of office software applications including MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for communication and reporting.
Bachelor degree in communications or related field, including coursework in marketing, digital marketing, communications and / or branding, plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience developing and implementing digital communications strategies in a health care or non-profit environment.
Working with Foundry’s Communications and Engagement teams and Foundry’s online team, participates in the development and implementation of an overall communications plan for Foundry, with a focus on digital communications but also includes media relations and general communications activities targeting youth and families, community agencies, government partners and potential donors.
Develops and maintains digital tools and modules aligned with Foundry’s vision, brand and priority projects, including :
b.Instructional and promotional videos and virtual reality tours; and
c.Foundry’s brand presence across digital platforms.
In collaboration with Foundry’s Communications and Engagement teams and Foundry’s online team, plans, develops and executes digital engagement campaigns to maximize reach and impact in alignment with Foundry’s vision, brand, and key priorities.
Creates digital and print material, coordinates graphic design for digital tools and modules and for Foundry’s knowledge products, and ensures quality control and brand consistency.
Sets goals and implements strategies to improve Foundry’s digital user experience, user interface and search engine optimization.
Monitors and evaluates relevant analytics and provides regular reporting on the effectiveness of Foundry’s digital communications tactics.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the Foundry brand experience is practiced across the Foundry network.
Compiles and maintains data including distribution lists through a Client Relationship Management system.
Supports the promotion and representation of Foundry at conferences and meetings, develops presentations and other materials.
Works with the Provincial Directors, Managers, Project Managers and administrative staff to track, monitor and report on all communications activities, including meetings and presentations, media interviews and stories, lay reports and publications, web page(s), responses to requests for information, etc.
Liaises with community members, other organizations and key stakeholders to strengthen connections, share information, and create opportunities for partnership.
Maintains up-to-date familiarity of literature and best practices concerning knowledge translation of research and digital media strategies through participation in meetings, workshops, courses, etc.
Performs other related duties as required.
