The Social Media / Digital intern has an exciting opportunity to be part of the Digital Team within Weston Foods, North America’s Premier Bakery.

The Digital Team plays an integral role within the organization of elevating everyday moments online for our consumers, customers and employees through effective online strategies.

They will have an opportunity to work on some of the top brands, contribute to formulating social / digital marketing solutions and have the opportunity to learn and apply skills in strategic planning, search engine optimized content and image creation, online activations, identification of social and digital trends, media amplification, search marketing and reporting.

The Social Media / Digital intern role is predominately focused on social media however will have opportunities to work on creation and maintenance of websites, search engine optimization and digital advertising.

Their primary responsibility will be planning and developing inspiring and engaging social and digital content for brands such as Wonder Bread, Country Harvest, ACE Bakery, Gadoua, D’Italiano and Dave’s Killer Bread as well as ensuring frequent and hands on community management, social listening and reporting.

They will be closely involved in ensuring we have a best in class social presence and will directly contribute to the team’s success.

They will help in identifying, discovering and sharing the latest trends in social / digital marketing with the direct and extended team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants the opportunity to work on a variety of recognizable brands and be fully immersed in all aspect of social media for a brand, as well as learning and applying the fundamentals of digital marketing to ongoing campaigns.


Social Media

Community management of Weston Foods brand accounts

Ongoing planning and support of 2020 social media strategies (brand and categories)

Building ongoing social media editorial calendar

Social Media listening (trends and crisis management)


Involvement in digital marketing support and planning

Brand website support, as required (Eg. Updating content in Drupal)

Digital Asset Creation (images, videos, gifs, etc.) for web / email / social

Writing of long format content like blogs, emails and newsletters

Identification of digital marketing trends and analytics

Upon the completion of the placement, the successful candidate will gain a thorough understanding of social media and helped contribute to achieving the goals and objectives set out in the 2020 Weston Foods Digital Marketing Strategy

Will assist Digital Marketing team in being a strategic partner with cross-functional teams such as Category, Sales Strategy, IT, Human Resources and Communications.

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Work independently and as a member of a team


The candidate will be passionate about digital marketing and seeking to learn from an experience that will fully immerse them in the space.

The ideal candidates will conduct themselves professionally and with integrity based on the Weston Foods code of conduct.

Core qualifications for the role include :

Currently undergoing or just graduated with an undergraduate degree related to social media / digital media marketing

A level of understanding of social media / digital best practices and applications is necessary within this role

Previous experience planning, creating and / or executing content is valuable

Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter)

Knowledge of social media listening tools (Hootsuite) and analytics tools (Facebook Insights, etc)

Strong team player and communicator

Comfortable with Drupal CMS

Knowledge of Salesforce as a CRM tool

Ability to compose and edit a variety of online social media materials

Strong background in design and content creation software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Video editing software and other content creation tools)

Familiarity in digital marketing best practices and applications (SEO, Google Trends)

Great communication skills, with the ability to comfortably communicate with consumers, teams and influencers

Thrives in a fast paced environment with proven ability to multi-task effectively

Bilingual in English / French an asset (although not required)
