Key Accountabilities

  • Re-engineering of benchmark products in various product categories in hydrous or anhydrous systems with introduction of innovative and technologically advanced raw materials and technologies
  • Review and / or develop specifications for new products for suitability with existing manufacturing systems and feasibility of other advanced technologies
  • Perform all the applicable analytical testing based on product’s specification and written procedures
  • Ability to review and interpret analytical data related to all the developed new and innovative products
  • Preparation and documentation of all experimental lab batches including the procedures and all the applicable test results on the R&I electronic formula cards (Coptis) based on departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Ability to perform risk assessment on the newly developed formulas
  • Actively participate in clients’ visits, huddles, and conference calls on new projects / product development
  • Provide assistance and / or training to Analysts (Levels I to III)
  • Maintain compliance to all health and safety standards, SOPs, GMP, GLP and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in DOE, Stability and Production Support
  • Research and maintain up to date knowledge / awareness of new raw materials, technologies, equipment and trends in cosmetic industry
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of laboratory equipment / instruments and working stations
  • Assist in various R&I related lab work as required
  • Skills, Experience and Education Required :

  • Post-secondary education (Bachelor or Master) in Science, preferably in Chemistry and related work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience within the Cosmetic industry
  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge of raw materials, their functions and application, and related technologies in the cosmetic field
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of analytical instruments for conducting physical / chemical testing for cosmetic products
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing, quality, product evaluation and handling in a cosmetic industry and GMP / GLP environments
  • Must have good colour matching skills
  • Process and detail oriented with GMP and 5S awareness
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication, organization, and computer skills.
  • Resourceful and solution oriented
  • Must be a team player, creative, highly motivated and flexible with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
