FPS Therapy & Support Services (FPS) is seeking a full-time Support Worker to join their team to provide practical life skill training, mentoring, support, crisis intervention and risk management services to clients in treatment at their practice.

Clients include adults, youth and special need populations, all of whom have been or are at risk of being in conflict with the law.

This position is for a term of a minimum of one (1) year to cover a maternity leave and has the potential to transition to a permanent position.

The successful candidate for this position will :

  • Be comfortable working with challenging clients, including high risk, high need clients, and those dealing with mental health disorders and addictions.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, responsibility and personal / professional integrity.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have strong time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage a caseload and schedule appointments with clients.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document session notes, contribute to reports and write email correspondence in a professional and timely manner.
  • Have post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., counselling, criminology, social work) or equivalent experience working in the social services field.
  • Familiarity with and / or knowledge of Aboriginal culture, experience with or practice of an Aboriginal traditional lifestyle is an asset.
  • Candidates will be required to complete a criminal record and child abuse registry check and must be approved to work with a vulnerable population.

    Possession of a valid driver’s license, as well as the ability to work flexible hours, are assets. Salary will be commensurate with academic background and experience.
